The latest revision of the widely used and respected ICC Rules of Arbitration was launched this week. The new Rules include a number of mechanisms designed to make the process speedier and more efficient, and to bring the ICC Rules into line with modern modes of communication.
Additions to the Rules include:
- provisions to address disputes involving multiple contracts and parties;
- updated case management procedures;
- the appointment of an emergency arbitrator to order urgent measures; and
- changes to facilitate the handling of disputes arising under investment treaties and free trade agreements.
