Our autumn conference programme kicks off next month with events on trade finance and international arbitration.
Having problems dealing with discrepant documents?
On 18th September a “bite-sized” breakfast seminar will look at the issue of discrepant documents in letter-of-credit transactions. Refusals remain a serious problem with letters-of-credit, with one study suggesting that UK plc loses over £100 million each year due to non-compliant presentations.
Reflecting the severity of this problem, we’ve lined up a panel of leading documentary credit experts, including Gary Collyer (Senior Technical Advisor, ICC Banking Commission) and John Turnbull (Joint General Manager, SMBCE Ltd.).
This promises to be an event that no documentary credit professional should miss. For further details, or to register, take a look at the event programme.
Our second event—on the evening of 20th September—will see the launch of ICC’s UK Arbitrators Forum.
A stellar line-up—including Julian Lew QC (20 Essex Street), Hilary Heilbron QC (Brick Court Chambers) and Jose Feris (ICC Court of Arbitration)—will look at a number of issues that arise with the use of expedited procedures in international arbitration; as well as reviewing some of the techniques that can be used to speed the arbitration process.
