ICC UK welcomes role for trade bodies in boosting exports

ICC UK has today welcomed the publication of a report by MPs on the UK Government’s new trade and investment strategy.

The report—written by the House of Commons Business Select Committee—suggests that efforts to persuade more SMEs to export are at risk because of cuts to the funding of the Government’s trade promotion arm, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

Business leaders call for progress in world trade talks

Leaders of some of the largest companies in the UK have today issued a statement warning of a potential collapse in the Doha Round of world trade talks.

In an open letter to the Financial Times, the CEOs and Chairmen of 8 major firms—including BT, Rolls Royce and Unilever—highlighted business’ concerns at recent reports of a major impasse in the talks in Geneva.
